John Hejduk considered Lorna McNeur's interpretation of the Nine Square Grid, to be the "quintessential" solution to the project; after which he no longer needed to teach the project. This video explores the model created by Lorna in 1976, during her first year of architectural study at The Cooper Union in New York City. It is her interpretation of the Nine Square Grid Project, a seminal teaching exercise developed by the late, architect philosopher John Hejduk, of The Cooper Union. This seemingly simple tool, enables many different levels and layers of architecture to be taught and understood, simultaneously These include: the fundamental orders, principles, concepts, philosophies, design, creativity, making, materiality, structures, construction, and detailing of architecture. (The painting in the background of the introduction is by Julia Ball). Lorna was a Fellow in Architecture and DoS at Lucy Cavendish College for twenty years from 1989–2009, where she is now an Emeritus Fellow. https://www.lucy.cam.ac.uk/news/lorna...
