In 1976, Haiti sent 13 athletes to the Summer Olympics in Montreal. Most of them did poorly, but accounts of the team distort and exaggerate their poor performance. In this video I revisit this maligned Olympic squad, looking beyond the memory of nepotism and non-athletes to disentangle memory from the true story. Special thanks to Dr. Marie-Antoinette Gautier, Dr. Anne Christine Buteau and Dr. Alyssa Goldstein Sepinwall.
