Heptares Therapeutics ( http://www.heptares.com/ ) have collaborate with Diamond Light Source ( http://www.diamond.ac.uk/ ) to determine the detailed structure of G Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) using high resolution X-ray crystallography. This has led to the discovery of a previously unknown ligand binding site within the protein, which opens up new opportunities for the development of new drugs to treat various medical conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis, and depression. I worked closely with Heptares and DLS to produce this short video depicting the role of GPCRs in the human body and to also show the location of the newly discovered binding site in the protein.
