Filmed on 20/09/2021. As we roll along with the second day of our London Holiday, we kick the day off where it has seen the future arrive and indeed disappear. Yes, it is the terminus of the Great Western Mainline of London Paddington (Season 8 Episode 33) In 1978, the world was introduced with a brand new kind of train. It will no longer be 'local hauled' will save time on the locos having to run round its train and indeed save time shunting the coaches in and out of the platform. It is the ironic class 43 High Speed Train. A brand new way to travel with MK3 coaches, air conditioning and room to move and stretch about. The class 43 holds to this days record of the worlds fastest diesel locomotive reaching line speeds of 125 MPH. This resulted in reaching between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads in just over 90 minutes. But, it has also seen the demise along the GWR. One example was the slip coach. The purpose of the slip coach was for any passengers willing to travel onto a connecting train but without leaving the coach can do so. The guard inside the coach can disconnect the coach from its train and also can control the brakes ensuring that the coach will stop near the front of the train or alongside the awaiting loco. The loco would attach to the coach, attach it to its train then continue along its journey. As much as it is sad not seeing the Class 43 HST's at London Paddington, some of the sets and power cars has been saved by having them converted into GWR Castle Sets. Consists of 3 or 4 MK3 coaches converted with sliding doors can today be seen on the following diagrams: Penzance to Cardiff Central Taunton to Cardiff Central Plymouth to Bristol Temple Meads Penzance to Plymouth Even though they are working on stopping services, they have a compatible top speed running of 110 MPH. The future has also arrived at London Paddington with the Hitachi Class 800/802 & Class 387 Electrostar and TFL Rail Class 345's. TFL Rail has taken over some of the diagrams which was once operated by GWR and Heathrow Connect which will eventually become the 'Elizabethan Line/Cross Rail line link West to East. **************************************************************************** Thank You For Watching You Can Follow Me On: Twitter: @NowisRicky Flickr: ricnowis Instagram: RCN Photography Facebook: Ricky Rail Sharing Community ©RickyNowisTrainspotting MMXXI #londonpaddington2021 #greatwesternmainline2021 #trainspottinguk #tflrail #transportforlondon #class345 #londonpaddington #gwr #class387 #electrostar #ukrailscene #class800 #hitachi #class802 #gwml #londonunderground #sstock #hammersmithandcityline #circleline #heathrowexpress #hitachitrainsuk #electricmultipleunit #ukrailways2021
