Tiger Hobbies present are Aces series no 2 Hans Joachim Marseille The Star of Afrika. Marseille was the top scoring Luftwaffe ace against the Royal Air Force, starting in the Battle of Britain, but most would come in the skies over North Africa. Just like George Beurling, a brilliant fighter pilot but slightly complex character, but for different reasons, not what you would call exactly a Nazi, a love of banned Jazz Music, and a free thinking Bohemian lifestyle, evidence of showing compassion to shot down RAF pilots. But, the Nazi Propaganda turned Marseille into what would be known today a Superstar in their press and media of the time. His death in September 1942 from Mechanical failure on the new BF109 G Gustav sent German moral especially the Luftwaffe in North Africa in to a spin, they had lost the Star of Afrika. This is also the story of the DAF The Desert Air Force, that for all the likes of aces like Marseille, never lost air superiority over North Africa and would be the blue print for Tactical Air Force that would see victory in Europe.
