2025 Tesla Model 3 Highland Performance - Supercar Performance in a Family Saloon

The Tesla Model 3 is an outstanding EV. This is the new performance model has two motors, 4WD, 461 kW (yes, that is what the car title says!), and 0-100 km/h takes just 3.1 sec. The top speed is 262 km/h and Tesla promises a range of up to 528 km. With the Full-Self-driving software, a 7’300 CHF option, plus the stealth grey paint, a 1,300 CHF option, the price climbs up to CHF 65’590 excl. destination charges. It is 472 cm in the length and 208.9 cm in the width which makes it easy to park the car. The car weighs 1929 kg, which is quite a lot, and this limits the max. weight for passengers and cargo to just 342 kg. But overall, it is a spacious vehicle with ample space for 4 people and the trunk offers 594 liters of luggage space. In the front you have an additional 88 liters of storage space. You can adjust the power in the car at three levels: Chill, Standard and Insane. Chill is very slow and Insane is, well…, insane. The ride and handling has the options Standard and Sport. In terms of the perceived quality, the new Model 3 is much better than before the facelift. The issues with big panel gaps or poor paint quality are gone and there is no squeak or rattling. The materials are good, the fit and finish is excellent and the sound damping is incredibly good. Tesla's controls work reasonably well and I think most younger customers will quickly get to like it, but some seniors will not like it. Personally, I hate it… The turn signals take the most getting-used-to, especially when you often have to drive through a roundabout, but they still cancel themselves automatically (most of the time). In the rear you have this nice 8” touchscreen as standard. It can control the rear air vents and change the entertainment source and take over control of the front passenger seat to create a chauffeured experience. The standard sound system is fantastic with its 17 speakers with 2 amplifiers and two subwoofers. It is not bettered by anyone in this price range, if by any car at all! Because of the large 75 kWh battery you are never likely to really experience range anxiety helped by the thousands of Tesla superchargers in Europe. In Switzerland you are unlikely ever to have to queue to charge, and the Tesla charger seamlessly connects with the car. Travelling in an all-electric car is very much possible across most of Europe, but you do have to do a little bit of trip planning and rely on the car's navigation system to do the trip planning and pre-heating and tell you where to charge and for how long. The Model 3 performance in this latest 2024-version is very good. It handles like a GranTurismo and will outsprint most supercars. Yet it is not a sports car. The Model 3 is still one of the best electric cars in the volume segment. The performance version just makes it one of the fastest, too. Thank you for watching mobility insider. Filmed in Switzerland in November 2024, produced by DNTS Productions.
