In this video, I’m working with a hitter on the importance of staying square to the pitcher in order to improve direction and consistently hit through the baseball. This hitter starts from an open stance, but his biggest issue isn’t the stance itself — it’s allowing his stride to move toward the third base line, which causes him to pull off the ball, lose direction, and make inconsistent contact off the end of the bat. We focus on: • Getting the front foot back square to the pitcher • Maintaining an athletic position throughout the swing • Staying through the middle of the field • Understanding how direction affects contact quality and barrel accuracy An open stance isn’t the problem, losing direction is. When hitters get back square and stay athletic, they give themselves a much bigger margin for error and can cover more of the hitting zone. This is about building repeatable movement, not chasing mechanical fixes. 📍 Pure Hard Work Baseball 🎥 Player Development • Swing Education • Real-Time Coaching
