In his public lecture at the University of Strathclyde on October 17th, 2019, Professor David Katan (University of Salento) explores the features that make tourism translation stand out from other translation fields, and what aspects of communication and translation theory would help in improving tourism translation. David Katan has been full professor of English and Translation at the University of Salento (Lecce) since 2006. Before that he was Associate professor at the Interpreters school (SSLMIT), University of Trieste (1998-2006). His over 80 publications include Translating Cultures: An Introduction for Translators, Interpreters and Mediators (Routledge) and he has been editor-in-chief of the International Journal Cultus (https://www.cultusjournal.com/index.php), the Journal of Intercultural Mediation and Communication since its creation in 2008.
