Video tutorial of the Bee Stitch in One Color. This beautiful stitch produces a dense fabric with a honeycomb type effect and the fabric lays flat (no blocking needed). This stitch would be great to try for a cowl, vest, sweater, or even just a dishcloth. Timestamps: 0:00 Intro 0:34 Bee Stitch Mug Cozy in 2 Colors - Teaser 0:55 Cast on and Row 1 1:16 Row 2 2:07 Row 3 and Row 4 3:00 Bind off info 3:18 Shorts promo 4:01 Sign off Level: Intermediate or Adventurous Advanced Beginner Stitch is worked on an odd number of stitches. Pattern is a 4-row repeat. Abbreviations: K=knit; K1b=knit into the hole below the actual stitch; RS=right side; st=stitch; WS=wrong side. Cast on an odd number of stitches using any cast-on method of your choice (I typically use the long-tail cast-on method; video link to that technique is below). You can use regular needles; you don’t need double-pointed needles; I like using them for my demos (: Row 1 (WS): K all sts. Row 2 (RS): *K1, K1b. Repeat from * to the last st, then K1. Row 3: K all sts. Row 4: *K1b, K1. Repeat from * to the last st, then K1b. Repeat Rows 1-4 for the Bee Stitch pattern in one color. When done knitting, bind off using regular cast off or any bind-off method of your choice. Swatches shown in video were knit with 29 sts using US size 7 (4.5 mm) regular needles tor the light gray yarn and 23 stitches using US size 9 (5.5 mm) regular needles for the worsted weight yellow yarn. To knit this pattern in the round (eg, for a hat), cast on an even number of st and follow the pattern below: Row 1: P all sts. Row 2: *K1, K1b. Repeat from * to the end of the row. Row 3: P all sts. Row 4: *K1b, K1. Repeat from * to the end of the row. Repeat Rows 1-4 to knit this stitch in this round.
