The BEST Beginner Ski Resorts Europe

Dreaming of a ski vacation, but afraid of those steep slopes? Want to discover the best begineer ski resorts in Europe? Don't worry, we got you covered with Europe's amazing beginner-friendly resorts Today on “Places we love”, we’ll look at “ The Top 5 Beginner-friendly Ski Resorts in Europe!” So, let's ski down! Wengen, Switzerland Here’s a charming Swiss village with iconic peaks like the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Wengen is part of the Jungfrau ski region, known for some of the best skiing in the area. What makes Wengen unique is that there are NO cars allowed. You get there on a super scenic train ride that winds through the mountains – it's an experience all on its own. While the Jungfrau region is better for intermediate or advanced skiers, don't worry if you're a beginner! Wengen has some gentle slopes right in the village, perfect for learning to ski, and those mountain views make for the most awesome backdrop while you practice your turns. Myrkdalen, Norway It's a newer resort that just opened in 2003 but it's quickly become a popular spot, especially with Norwegians. The best part is, Myrkdalen is super close to Bergen, only about a two-hour drive, so it's perfect for weekend getaways or even a day trip from the city. Myrkdalen has a bunch of beginner and intermediate slopes, and they get a ton of snow, so conditions are usually awesome. The Myrkdalen Hotel is right at the base of the slopes, and there are restaurants, bars, and places to rent your gear nearby. They've got lots of kid-friendly areas and activities, making it a great choice for families. Les Getz, France Les Gets lies in part of the Portes du Soleil, which means you have access to a HUGE range of slopes, but it's especially known for wide, easy runs perfect for practicing. There are tons of ski schools with awesome instructors who can teach in different languages, making it super welcoming. And, The layout of the resort makes it easy to navigate as a beginner – no accidentally ending up on a scary expert slope! Les Gets is all about family fun. When you need a break from the slopes, try snowshoeing, ice skating, or sledding – there are special areas just for kids! And the town itself is super charming, with cozy wooden chalets, cute shops, and tons of places to eat and hang out. Saas-Fee, Switzerland Think of Saas-Fee as the hidden gem of the Swiss Alps – they even call it the "Pearl of the Alps"! It's about a 2.5-hour drive from Geneva and sits 1,800 meters high up in the mountains, with slopes that go even higher. If you're new to skiing, this is a GREAT place to learn. They've got loads of easy "blue" runs down at the lower part of the mountain, plus some awesome ski schools to help you get the hang of it. One of the coolest things about Saas-Fee is that it gets tons of snow – even when other ski resorts aren't so lucky. There's even a glacier, so you can ski all summer long if you're really into it! And with plenty of harder trails higher up, you can keep coming back as your skills improve. But it's not just about skiing. The village itself is totally car-free, so it's super peaceful and perfect if you're traveling with little ones who might be trying out skiing for the first time. Les Arcs, France It's part of this HUGE ski area called Paradiski. Les Arcs itself has a long season with good snow, thanks to those high altitude spots. Les Arcs is actually a bunch of smaller villages all connected by slopes and lifts. So, depending on what kind of vibe you're after, you can pick between Arc 1600, 1800, 1950, or 2000. For beginners – they've got special "chill zones" with gentle slopes just for learning. Loads of ski schools around, too, so you can get lessons and get the hang of it. Once you're feeling confident, those wide blue runs are perfect for cruising. They've ALSO got snowshoeing, sledding, even ice-skating! Now, keep in mind, Les Arcs is ALSO popular with more hardcore skiers, so expect some challenging runs and off-piste adventures if that's your thing. Tignes, France Tignes is part of the huge Espace Killy ski area, so you'll have tons of terrain to explore. Plus, being high up in the Alps means they get some of the MOST RELIABLE snow in the region. Tignes is actually made up of a few different villages, each with its own vibe: Tignes Le Lac, Tignes Val Claret, and a few others. This is great because you can find the perfect style of accommodation, whether you want a cozy chalet or a more modern hotel. For beginners, There are special "Zones Débutants" with mellow slopes and easy lifts, plus you can get beginner lift passes at a discount. Once you get the hang of it, you can tackle some of their longer blue runs. Just a heads up – some people find the blues in Tignes a bit tougher than in other resorts, so lessons can be a good idea at first.
