MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WKRC) - Middletown Police have arrested a suspect in a stabbing death on Sunday. Police found the victim Lawrence Kinzel, 46, dead in the street at the intersection of Lefferson Road and Sheffield Street at about 12:30 a.m. Investigators identified the suspect as James Carroll. They tracked him down to a home on Audubon Drive but he took off. He stole a car in the Save-a-Lot parking lot on Roosevelt, according to officers. That car belongs to Dottie Cowgill. “He ran out of gas. It was dead on empty, dead on empty and the light was on,” said Cowgill. “He stole the wrong car if he was trying to get away.” Carroll was found in a home on Central Avenue. He's charged with murder, tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, receiving stolen property and failure to report a crime or death. Police also took Cowgill’s car. She says they told her they found evidence in it. “They won't release my car and I'm mad. I mean, I didn't have nothing to do with the crime. I want my car,” said Cowgill. “They wouldn't even let me come down and get the groceries out of it. So that's ruined.” When the car was stolen, it had about $300 worth of food for Thanksgiving. Cowgill says now she, her seven children and nine grandchildren will have to figure something else out. “I want to tell him thanks for ruining my kids' Thanksgiving. That's what I want to say to him,” said Cowgill. The murder victim, Kinzel, is from Chicago. Carroll is in jail on a $1 million bond.
