Cardiff Bay Cycle Ride ~ The Whole Way Around

A more leisurely ride around the whole of the Cardiff 'Tiger' Bay loop. Starting at Mermaid Quay and the Welsh Assembly building, heading clockwise east to Roath Docks. Along the BBC Roath Lock Studios, the Norwegian Church and then heading along the Cardiff Bay Trail heading west to the Cardiff Bay Barrage. The barrage holding the water from the rivers in the bay and separating from the tide of the Bristol Channel sea. At the end of the Barrage we cross the multiple lock gates and over to Penarth Marina and Haven. At the end of the Marina we cross the Ely River and past the White Water Rafting centre and over to the board walk taking us to the Cardiff Bay Link Bridge over the River Taff. We then cycle back over to Mermaid Quay, being quite busy with the end of the summer festival and while the cycle routes run through much of the Quay it's wise to dismount in many areas, especially when it's busy. Mermaid Quay also marks the start of the Taff Cycle Trail, a 55 miles cycle route all the way to Brecon and the Brecon Beacons mountain.
