When we bend forward, many of us are actually shifting our pelvis and center of weight backward, and bend backward by shifting our pelvis and center of weight forward. In this clip, we explore embodying our bladder as a stable base from which to bend forward and backward without shifting our pelvis or center of weight. This is done not by holding or tightening in the bladder but by shifting the weight through the bladder. The bladder can also be explored as the center for stabilizing our vertical axis in turning. The bladder is a primary organ because it develops embryologically in the space that was the site of the allantois, the connecting canal between the yolk sac (gut tube) and the umbilicus.
