Professor Knud Berthelsen explains why AI literacy is essential for students and professionals in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape. 📖 VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: Why do we care about AI literacy? Why is it so important to know about AI and how it works? Well, the most important reason is simply looking at the capabilities that AI has, the things that AI can do. AI can, (and we're talking about the current versions of AI, not even something that rolls into the future where we're expecting it to be even better), AI can already today understand anything that is digital. It can manipulate anything that is digital, meaning it can edit it, and it can generate new things that are digital. And since everything we do these days that is not literally touching wood is digital (our music is digital, our videos are digital, everything we write) all these are things that current AI can understand, can edit, and can output. So we are able now to do things that we were not able to do at all before and we're also able to do a lot of things relatively quickly that would take many people quite a lot of time to do before. These capabilities of AI are incredibly useful for people that can use them and that are aware of them.
