The infamous Burfield, installed in 1997, replacing a Murray-Latta double, this Doppelmayr quad serves everything from one incredibly long green cruiser, up to some pretty technical advanced runs. I believe this is the longest fixed grip chairlift in the world and has some of the farthest chair spacing I have ever seen (115ft). The drive comes from the old Sundance quad, the rest was new with the lift, fixed top return, EJ chairs, grips, towers, & line equipment, there is also a mid station for both loading and unloading, making it so most do not need to ride the full length. The lift has a cult following at Sun Peaks and is often referred to as “The Burf”. It’s definitely starting to show its age, but with the limited terrain served, and the fact that most don’t need to ride the full length, I’m not sure with the future holds for this lift, I expect to see it last another decade.
