Adobe has been working on AI to improve the accessibility of PDF documents as well as an improved readability experience. The first release of these advancements is currently available on Acrobat Mobile for iOS and Android via our Liquid Mode feature. Come learn about our journey in using machine learning and AI to make more PDF documents accessible and easier to read. This session is from the Wildcard Track. About the Speakers Jamila Keba, Frontend Developer for Acrobat’s Liquid Mode - Adobe Preferred Pronoun: She/Her; They/Them Jamila is a frontend developer at Adobe and has been working on Acrobat’s Liquid Mode. She is passionate about accessibility and has been working to ensure that Liquid Mode is a good experience for users who use a screen reader. When not at work she is usually making art. Matthew Hardy, Senior Engineering Manager, Document Cloud - Adobe Preferred Pronoun: He/Him Matthew first started working with PDF technology in 1999, investigating document semantics in PDF as part of his PhD research, sponsored by Adobe. Matthew has worked for Adobe since 2005 in various technical roles and manages teams working on PDF technology spanning the document cloud, including Mobile, Desktop and Web. In addition to his engineering management role, Matthew has been a representative to the ISO committees developing the PDF, PDF/A and PDF/UA since 2010 and is an active member of several PDF Association TWGs. Rick Treitman, Entrepreneur in Residence - Adobe Preferred Pronoun: He/Him Rick is currently Entrepreneur-in-Residence for Document Cloud – specializing in Education. Rick’s work as EIR involves early-stage development of tools and solutions for Adobe’s customers. Current projects include readability controls in Acrobat, working with non-profits such as Readability Matters, and establishing and working closely with the Virtual Readability Lab at the University of Central Florida. Robert Haverty, Senior Product Manager, Document Cloud Accessibility - Adobe Preferred Pronoun: He/Him Rob Haverty is a Senior Product Manager for Document Cloud Accessibility at Adobe. With more than 20 years of accessibility experience Rob as has been involved in many facets of accessibility including product development, technical evangelism, and policy and standards development. Rob has presented at conferences world-wide and has been involved in international accessibility projects such as the UNESCO Inclusive Classroom Project. Prior to coming to Adobe Rob was engaged in accessibility work at Microsoft.
