This news comes as a shock for people in Delhi who purchase daily-use essentials. A dangerous racket has been exposed in the capital, where well-known branded products being sold in the market were actually expired and counterfeit. The Crime Branch team conducted a raid in the Jagatpur area and busted a godown where expired food and cosmetic products were being tampered with. The original expiry dates were being erased and replaced with fake new dates. Packaging was being changed, labels were reprinted, and the products were made to look completely fresh before being supplied to the market. Timely police action exposed this major operation and saved thousands of consumers from serious health risks. #Delhicirme #Delhipolice #FakeProducts #ConsumerAlert It was revealed that several popular brands stored in the godown had their original expiry dates removed and fake dates printed on them. Products such as Nestle Sugar Free, Glucon-D, Dabur Gulabari Lotion, Vicks Vaporub, Dabur Chyawanprash, and Savlon Antiseptic were recovered in large quantities despite being expired and ready for market distribution. According to the police, the entire operation was carefully planned to deceive consumers and earn huge illegal profits. The racket was being run in a highly organized and discreet manner. The accused used to procure large quantities of expired food and cosmetic products from different sources at cheap rates and store them in the godown. These were products whose original expiry dates had already passed and were unfit for sale. The real manipulation began afterward. The original expiry dates and batch numbers printed on the products were chemically erased or scratched off. In many cases, outer packaging was replaced. Using special printing frames and labeling machines, fresh fake manufacturing and expiry dates were printed, making the products appear new and genuine. Some items were repacked and resealed to avoid suspicion. The “fresh-looking” goods were then supplied to wholesalers and small retailers. Customers in the market purchased them believing they were safe and authentic. In reality, an organized network was pushing expired goods back into circulation, posing a serious threat to public health. This major action was carried out by Eastern Range-I, Crime Branch, Delhi. Acting on credible intelligence, the team conducted a planned raid at a godown located at Gali No. 9B, Pushta Road, Jagatpur, Delhi, to prevent the expired and counterfeit goods from reaching the market. The operation was led by Inspector Ashish Sharma along with SI Prakash, SI Guman Singh, ASI Sandeep Chawla, Head Constable Amit, and Head Constable Manish, under the supervision of ACP Sunil Shrivastav. During the raid, an illegal setup was found operating inside the godown where expired food and cosmetic products were being altered with fake dates. The accused, Omprakash Sharma (40 years), a resident of Rail Vihar, Ghaziabad, was arrested from the spot while managing the operation. A large quantity of expired products, printing frames, labeling materials, and equipment used for altering expiry details were seized from the premises. FIR No. 35/2026 has been registered at PS Crime Branch, and legal proceedings have been initiated. Further investigation is underway, and the police are working to trace the entire supply chain network involved in the racket.
