Hey Guys... It's Drac: Lord Draconical Nerf YouTuber Development Over Time - Phones to Flinging Foam! Like most Nerfers, I enjoy Drac's content. Over more than a thousand videos (I've counted!) he's shared magnificent mods, rare and vintage blasters, and delivered honest, sincere, on point commentary on new offerings from our most patronised brands. I noticed a few days ago that my own YouTubing style has changed over a hundred or so videos (for better or worse, depending on your tolerance to motion sickness). It was fascinating to consider how I'd developed as a YouTuber over a relatively short period of time. This video was born out of curiosity... how about the big Nerf YouTubers' development over a few hundred, five hundred, a thousand videos over many years? Well... now we can see! One thing that stood out to me whilst engaging so intensely with Drac's content was how candid it appears: It's mostly just a man (an immortal undead man) with a blaster and something engaging and honest to say about it. As a YouTuber who's videos rely heavily on editing, I am impressed by the way Drac discourses, discusses and presents his views so fluently, video in, video out, often in one unedited scene. Of course, there may be several takes, and there's probably consideration beforehand with regards to what to say and maybe even a script. But, what we are primarily viewing is Drac drawing on a profound knowledge of foam flinging gear borne out of: hundreds of hours of modding for commissions, pleasure and both; handling and performing autopsy on hundreds and maybe thousands of blasters from the dawn of Nerf to the present day; friendship, active engagement and collaboration with other giants of the hobby around the globe; Nerfing at and organising Nerf events; engaging with the Nerfing community at large; existing or previous working relationships with the powers which design and manufacture the hardware we enjoy, use, deride (I'm talking about you, Deploy) and modify; and a passion for the hobby... That's why this un-dead immortal keeps us hooked. I would bet that most of us can only truly lay claim to one or two of the above, three at best. But here's the complete package, neatly wrapped and sealed in a coffin wearing a bandanna, sunglasses and a holstered Hammershot, ready to be drawn and fanned at a moment's notice! Things to look out for in this video: The sheer variety of blasters which pass through Drac's hands Changes to Drac's greetings throughout the piece Drac's voice changing pitch when holding particularly rare blasters Changes to the setting where videos are filmed References to Drac's heritage and eclectic interests on his T-shirts Collaborations with other Nerfers Evidence of Drac's active involvement and engagement with local and wider Nerfing communities I've only included videos up to Drac's face reveal; because of limitations to my time and how long the video was becoming, I had to choose to stop somewhere, and this seemed like a natural point.where all of the elements of Drac's "modern" style seemed present. I also considered his silver play button which happened soon after, but this seemed too arbitrary and less natural. It should be interpreted as a tribute and an interesting unofficial biographical video which will hopefully be interesting to Drac fans and, dare I say it, also enjoyed by the dark Lord himself, as he views it from the comfort of his red satin-lined coffin. I've deliberately included most of the video titles at the bottom of the screen, which allows you to easily identify and find any of the videos used which you want to view or review on Drac's own channel. The top of the screen is not cut off... that's as close as I could get it to maximise what you see from my OBS recording whilst still being able to see Drac's video titles!
