This video is highlights from Game 7 of the 1967 World Series Oct. 12 between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Red Sox in Boston, won by the Cardinals, 7-2. It is from The World Series of 1967 highlight film done by Major League Baseball and is narrated by Harry Caray. There's a version of this up on YouTube, but the picture isn't as sharp as this one. This Series matched the 100-1 Impossible Dream Red Sox, led by Triple Crown winner Carl Yastrzemski and Cy Young Award winner Jim Lonborg, who claimed the American League pennant on the last day of the season, against the dominating Cardinals, paced by brilliant starter Bob Gibson and speedsters Lou Brock and Curt Flood, and who rolled to the National League pennant. The seventh game finally aligned the aces, Gibson against Lonborg, but Lonborg was pitching on two-days rest, while Gibson had an extra day. From the start, it was apparent Lonborg was arm-weary. Three hits and a wild pitch put St. Louis ahead, 2–0, in the third. Two more scored in the fifth on a homer by Gibson, a Brock single and two stolen bases (his seventh theft — a Series record), and a Roger Maris sacrifice fly. Boston cut it to 4-1 in the fifth, but in the sixth Julian Javier hit a three-run homer. With the 7–2 defeat, Boston's "Impossible Dream" ended one win short, but the Fenway fans gave Lonborg and Yastrzemski long, heart-felt standing ovations. Gibson and the powerhouse Cardinals were champions for the second time in the 1960s, and would reach the Series the next season but not win it. Box score, other information in comments.
