We hit the streets of Nairobi with one mission: give 1,000 free hugs to strangers in 6 hours on Valentine's Day. We got 1,200+. Then we met people whose lives changed forever. This is what happened. We support families in need across Kenya by facilitating community-driven acts of kindness that restore dignity and hope. THE CHALLENGE: On Valentine's Day 2024, Padi Wubonn and Team Twende Tusaidie took to the streets of Nairobi and environs with a massive placard: "LOVE IS PRICELESS - GET A FREE HUG." The goal? Collect 1,000 signatures from people willing to exchange a free hug. The time limit? 6 hours. The stakes? Prove that kindness still exists in 2024. What started as a social experiment turned into something way bigger. We hugged: ✅ Students rushing to class ✅ Business owners at their shops ✅ Bodaboda riders taking a break ✅ Street vendors selling their goods ✅ Mamas carrying babies ✅ Security guards on duty ✅ Office workers on lunch break ✅ Strangers who just needed a hug that day HOUR 1: 150 signatures HOUR 2: 350 signatures HOUR 3: 600 signatures HOUR 4: 850 signatures HOUR 5: 1,050 signatures HOUR 6: 1,200+ signatures ✅ MISSION COMPLETE But this wasn't just about numbers. In the middle of the campaign, we met Oscar from Mathare—a cart driver who lost everything in an accident. He said: "You're not treating me with disdain because of how I look." That one hug led to groceries for his family. We met Irene from Sonic—a businesswoman whose husband is in the army protecting Kenya. Her Valentine's message to him was so sweet that Padi surprised her with flowers, gifts, and champagne on his behalf. We met thousands of Kenyans who proved that LOVE IS PRICELESS. This Valentine's Day, our motto was: KEEP THE LOVE. SPREAD THE HUG. And Nairobi showed up. Big time. 🇰🇪 This is what happens when a community believes in kindness. This is Twende Tusaidie Tushinde.
