Lascaux Tusches: Film No. 4 Wash Spray Tusche

This is Film Number Four in a series of five that explore some of the textural properties of Lascaux Tusches. The series seeks to show some of the ways in which these Tusches can be used to make photo-positives for screen-printing.   This film shows how John McGowan explores Lascaux Wash/Spray Tusche.  The Tusche can be sprayed from a simple airbrush and used with Lascaux Lift Solution. He explains how its translucent quality is useful in building up multi -layer prints.  He also shows different methods of splattering the tusche. The film shows the textural work created in the studio and the resulting printed effects.   John McGowan writes: I made my first film about Lascaux Tusches in 2016, as people viewing my “Rothersthorpe Lock” print often asked how it was made.  I felt that a video was the best means of explanation. With the help of my friends I made that video and posted it on YouTube. I had no contact at the time with Lascaux.   Four years later I received an email from Barbara Diethelm of Lascaux, expressing her interest in the film. I suggested that a short film about each of the tusches would be a good way to de-mystify them and would help fellow printmakers understand some of their potential.  Barbara agreed and has helped fund the costs of the music and professional editing.
