Carleton is a private liberal arts college in Northfield, Minnesota, and is one of the leading liberal arts colleges in the United States. This performance was part of a Recital of Low Brass Chamber Music by Professor Carson King-Fournier, and was the second piece on the program. Carson King-Fournier is a prominent freelance musician and educator based in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has been on faculty at Carleton College as the Professor of Low Brass since 2021, and is on faculty at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, Augsburg University, and Macalester College. Carson holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Juilliard School, and a Master of Music Degree from Northwestern University. His principal teachers include Joseph Alessi, Michael Mulcahy, R. Douglas Wright, Kari Sundstrom, and Dr. John Tranter. Carson has performed with a variety of ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, and the United States Military Academy Band at West Point among others. He regularly performs in a multitude of styles, and on alto, tenor, and bass trombones, euphonium, and sackbut.
