The Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra Temple and Satsang Ashram in Hemayetpur, Pabna, is built around his birthplace, where he was born in 1888 and began his spiritual activities; it was originally built in a simple manner but later developed into a seat of Satsang, which became known as a spiritual center combining education, agriculture and industry, and is now an important religious and tourist center. History of the Temple: Birthplace and Beginnings: Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra (1888-1969) was born in Hemayetpur village of Pabna district and his spiritual life began here. His father was Shivchandra Chakraborty and mother was Manmohini Devi. Establishment of Satsang: As Anukul Chandra's spiritual philosophy developed, his followers established a simple ashram here, which later came to be known as 'Satsang'. Name: As per the mother's wish, this ashram was named 'Pabna Satsang Ashram'. Ideals and Development: This ashram was built on the ideals of education, agriculture, industry and balanced marriage and has become a center for religious and social development. Current Status: It is now known as an important religious place and tourist destination, where devotees come and learn about his life and philosophy. Important Information: Thakur Anukul Chandra moved to Deoghar in 1946 and died there, but this birthplace of Pabna remains a repository of his memory and thoughts. The main ideal of Satsang was human welfare and spiritual development, which is reflected through this ashram.
