The Yamaha V-Star 250 is also known as the Virago 250 or more commonly the xv250. Mine is a 2009, but this bike has not changed its design since the 80's. It's the first time I did a brake job on anything, so I am as green as they come. There is no other video on changing the brake pads on a v-star 250, but lots on larger v-stars. So I binged on those before attempting the feat shown in this video. Update: at the end of the vid I wasn't sure if I installed the brakepads correctly, well apparently I did. After riding around for over 100kms, the brakes worked flawlessly. The initial rubbing of new brakepads on rotors is normal, and went away after the pads adapted to the rotors. Also, I torqued the bolts that attach the caliper to the fork to ~25-30ft-lbs; and the retaining bolts (the ones that attach the caliper housing to the arm thingie) to 17-20ft-lbs.
