📅 11.-14.03.2024 📍 TNCM | SXM - Sint Maarten Princess Juliana Airport - Part 2 of my awesome stay in St Maarten. Several landings & takeoffs recorded from various locations alongside Maho Beach, behind the runway, from my Airbnb's balcony and from Dinghy's Bar viewing deck. I can especially recommend the viewing deck, which is only a 10 minutes walk from the beach! You have some shadow, some people to chat, WiFi to track incoming flights, food and drinks! Most of the footage was taken on the 2nd and 4th day as I spent the 3rd day in St Barths (only captured the AF takeoff from the village). Important notes: You may see other people holding themselves on the fence and standing right behind the runway. This is actually quite dangerous and should only be done with a high amount of caution! Especially holding on the fence is not recommended at all, as you may be blown onto the street (there have also been deadly accidents in the recent years). The jetblast shouldn't be underestimated, even with my 90 kg weight, it was quite a battle to record steadily sometimes. Also on the beach, it is advised to have your loose stuff and light objects (such as hats or towels) secured. Don't put your stuff too close to the water as the tide may change rapidly or there may be unexpectedly high waves (my camera got damaged when I left my bag near a bunch of towels thinking the distance from the shore would look safe). So better calculate enough distance if you have valuable non-waterproof things with you.
