Today I am doing a comparison between budget colouring pencils and professional artist quality pencils. I will be colouring in the book Johanna's Christmas by Johanna Basford, and I will be dividing my page in two and using one style pencil on each side. The pencils we will be using today are both made by Faber-Castell. For the first half of my page I will be using their Classic range. Now this red box I’m sure has been a part of many a childhood. I can definitely remember having these growing up. They are a good quality budget pencil, and you can pick up one of these 24 packs for about $6-7 AUD. For my second half, I will be using my artist quality Polychromos pencils. These are beautifully pigmented, and a dream to work with, but will set you back between $60-70 AUD for a pack of 24. SO I will be interested to see how the Classic pencils compare along side the Polychromos. Do you need artist quality pencils to make beautiful drawings and colourings, or can a budget pencil still give you a nice and comparable result?
