St John the Evangelist Church, Wooton, Surrey

Here I take a look around the charming parish church of St John the Evangelist. St. John's is situated in the hamlet of Wotton standing at the end of Church Lane overlooking the North Downs. This is one of my favourite places to visit along the old A25. The church dates back to Saxon times although only a few of the original footings now remain to the west of the Norman tower. Much of the church was, out of necessity, restored in Victorian times. The church also contains the Evelyn Chapel where there are some magnificent monuments and the tomb of John Evelyn, the diarist.
