MOUNT IJEN, Indonesia | Blue Flames | Sulfur Miners Overview

We hiked Mount Ijen and saw the famous blue fire in the crater. While there, we spoke to a few sulfur miners and tested the weight of their baskets. We did some research and provide an overview of the sulfur mining that happens in the crater and the harsh conditions the sulfur miners work in. When we asked people what we should do while traveling in East Java, this was one of the number one recommended things. It was super crowded with people wanting to see the blue fire in the crater. While this certaintly was unique, what was more memorable to us were the sulfur miners that work here. We are a married couple traveling around the world for 1+ years.
