NAMM 2026 brought a lot of interesting gear to the table, and after spending three days on the show floor, this video covers the synths, samplers, and genuinely weird experiments that stood out to me the most. This isn’t a full recap of everything at NAMM. Instead, I focused on the gear that either surprised me, challenged my expectations, or felt like it could meaningfully fit into real-world music making workflows. Wherever possible, I captured direct audio so you can actually hear how this stuff sounds, not just see it on a noisy show floor. We'll look at: The Casio SX-C1 Sampler (a retro-styled portable sampler with some very unexpected playback behavior) The Akai MPC Live 3, and why it made me rethink the modern MPC workflow Stylophone VOICE, a $50 sampler that turned out to be way more fun than I expected Ashun Sound Machines Leviathan, a massive hybrid synth with one of the most expressive keybeds at the show Erica Synths Hexdrums, an immediate, all-analog drum machine Erica Synths Steampipe, a physical-modeling synth built around experimental sound design Roland Project LYDIA, an AI-based sound modeling pedal that feels more like an experiment than a finished product The Yamaha SEQTRAK 2.0 update, including new workflow improvements and early experimentation with AI sample generation Some of this gear feels close to release. Some of it clearly isn’t. Some of it sits right on the line between genuinely useful and just plain weird... Which is honestly what made NAMM this year interesting. New gear is always exciting, but innovation only really matters if it fits how you actually make music. If you’re into samplers, synths, DAWless workflows, or just keeping an eye on where music tech is heading, you’ll probably find something interesting here. 📚Want some help figuring out your best workflow for finishing beats?
