Restoration Project #41 - TI-74 Back when I was giving some higher education a try - between 1989 and 1992 - I had lots of classmates who were using programmable calculators. It was the fab of the time to me, and since my parents aren't that well off... I never had a chance of owning one. Also, back then, I kept losing and misplacing stuff on a regular basis... so a calculator that was very expensive and not allowed to be used for most exams anyway... was not going to land in my lap soon. The two models I saw in my school were the Sharp PC-1403H and the TI-74. I found the 1403 one on sale a few years after I made my own money, so I just got a new one. But the TI-74 was beyond reach. And for some reason, the style of the calculator was much more to my taste; the keys are slightly more ergonomic, with it being larger... I tried to find one for the longest time, but my main problem was: I couldn't remember the model number... My classmates were very protective about them, so I only ever saw one from across several desks... Fast forward to about a year ago, and I finally found one on e-bay! Follow me along as I clean up the device, replace an empty battery and also fix another related device! 0:00 Intro 1:45 Disassembly 4:00 Recapping / Battery "Wire" 5:23 Assembly 8:00 Function Test! / Memory Module Battery 10:17 Case Swap 11:44 Printer!
