If you believe that the obesity epidemic in the Western world is solely to blame for calories, you may have been misled by some experts who are somehow connected to the junk food industries. I started working professionally in Medical Nutrition fully convinced that 300 calories from lentils is not the same thing as 300 soft drink calories. But the soda industry wants you to believe that 300 calories of soda is the same as 300 calories of lentils. That is why they focus again and again on how much one eats and not on what one eats. After decades of study and research and 25 years of clinical work in the field of obesity I have come to the conclusion that this is the most important fallacy in this field. And I believe that the junk food industries want you to believe that calories are the most important problem in relation to the obesity epidemic. Because in this way they can produce foods with zero nutritional value and equate them with foods that are packed with nutrients but corresponding calories. The junk food industries want you to believe that calories are the problem that has caused the obesity epidemic, and unfortunately they often use science and "scientists" to back it up. This is also the reason why many nutritionists often insist on foods of zero nutritional value, such as toasts, juices, cookies, cookies and calorie-free soft drinks. They are convinced that only calories matter. But the reality is completely different. Certainly, in a strict laboratory context, 240 calories from carrots and 240 calories from a soft drink will have almost the same effect on the body. But to consume 240 calories from a soda can take a few seconds, while to chew carrots that contain 240 calories must be chewed for two and a half hours straight. The number is not random. A study has been done! But, even if someone manages to chew 5 cups of carrots that correspond to 240 calories, the satiety they will create will last for many hours, because it will take up a lot of space in the stomach and it will be difficult to manage such a large amount of food. On the contrary, by consuming 240 calories from a soft drink, it is most likely within an hour to an hour and a half, not only that we will not feel full, but that we will be hungry. It's the same with exercise. Soda companies want you to believe that the reason you're overweight is because you don't exercise. A 40-year-old woman with a height of 1.65 meters and a weight of 75 kg, if she has a completely sedentary life, consumes 1700 calories per day. If he starts exercising 3 times a week for 1 hour each time, then the energy expenditure increases to 1800 calories per day. Which means that can consume a little more than 1 scoop of 2% yogurt per day. It's not like he can actually eat more! Let alone that someone starts exercising 3 times a week from one hour is not something easy. So, don't excuse yourself by putting off trying to adopt a proper diet with the excuse that your problem is lack of exercise. The problem is always the right diet. Not the amount, not the lack of exercise. Exercising has huge health benefits, but unfortunately for weight loss it only makes sense if someone works out two hours a day and is a 20-25 year old male. For all other cases of men exercise is by no means sufficient to counterbalance the poor quality of food. Calories only make sense when one is eating healthily. But I have rarely seen people eating healthily and can say with confidence that their increased weight is due to the large amount of food they consume. This is because the right foods are usually very low in calorie density and it is very difficult to overeat. But even if he eats too much, satiety will prevent him from eating more soon. The right foods somehow protect us from overconsumption. But that won't happen with a piece of toast. If you've made it this far, it looks like the topic of healthy eating is of interest to you. It is then worth clicking on the video to my right which shows you what nutritional rubbish the junk food industries are serving you as 'healthy food'. I remind you that by pressing the like button and sharing the video you help me a lot. Thank you.
