This video showcases some of the many workshops that were held as part of the Amber Womens Refuge - One Million Stars Ireland Project. Launched in early 2023, One Million Stars Ireland collaborated with many organisations throughout the country hosting 100,s of weaving workshops. The Art for Activism project brought together hundreds of members of the community including refugees and International Protection Applicants. From Jan 2023 - August 2023 210 participants wove 14, 450 stars. Each star represents light, hope and solidarity against all violence, especially gender based violence. The stars were curated into a wonderful exhibition at Carlow College St Patricks for International Day of Peace. The workshops created safe spaces and the opportunity for inclusion. Stars in the exhibition are put together in hanging lengths , some contain handwritten messages and some are tied to the LOVE stars outdoor installation. Special thanks to all the organisations and collaborators : MacDonagh Junction, AKiDWA, Adapt Kerry, Fr McGrath Family Resource Centre, Waterford Volunteer Centre, St Canice's Community Hall, Ethnic Minority Development at ODVSS , Kilkenny Volunteer Centre and Carlow College St Patricks. With thanks to the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and KCETB. Amber Womens Refuge CLG. Video Credit Freddie Greenall.
