The Music Man: "I am the Music Man, I come from down your way and I can play..." Audience: "What can you play?" The Music Man: "I can play on the piano!" The Rovers' humourous performance of the English folk song, as heard on a 1976 K-Tel album called "Children of the Unicorn". Apologies for the sound dropouts; they are NOT on the record, but people were walking around the room and the weight of the people's feet against the floor caused the turntable platter to wobble and introduce a low-frequency "bump" noise into the recording. I had to reduce the gain in the parts that have the low-frequency "bump" noise so that the recording doesn't end up having clipping distortion following the increment of the gain for the whole track. (UPDATE MARCH 2023... this Numark TTUSB is no longer mine. It has no insulation, damping or isolation whatsoever! I enjoyed it as a vinyl newbie, but it just didn't mesh well with my bigger, bassier hi-fi.) Anyways, I absolutely LOVE how the Rovers treated this song, and the part that always makes me crack up is where the Music Man plays the veo-veo-veolin! NOTE: Audio was captured from the TTUSB's built-in preamp and enhanced using a BBE Sonic Maximizer 1002. The reprocessed output is then sent into the CD input of my 1990's Pioneer VSX-D2S receiver, and the output from the receiver in turn goes from the tape out of the receiver into the line in of my computer. I then raised the gain by +8 dB in Audacity because these these K-Tel records are always recorded quiet to allow more music to fit onto the record. -- HARDWARE: Numark TTUSB https://amzn.to/3FOb9ie (internal phono stage/preamp) Audio-Technica CN5625AL *Best equivalent is AT3600L https://amzn.to/40iG6Dy BBE Sonic Maximizer 1002 Pioneer VSX-D2S On videos from July 2012 & on ONLY: E-MU 0202 USB https://amzn.to/3TDky1A Signal Path: Turntable ➡️ BBE ➡️ Receiver Line In ➡️ TAPE REC ➡️ PC line in or E-MU ➡️ Audacity **DEALS for the Weird, the Rulebreakers, the Misfits** OldMusicOnVinyl1 is brought to you by my ventures.
