In this episode from 'Conversations for a Better World®', Robert Pradolin, from 'Housing All Australians' (HAA) shares how, since 2019, HAA have been providing short term solutions, to provide homes for people who are homeless, while more buildings are being constructed in the longer term. And how do they do this? By refurbishing empty buildings, through 'Compassionate Capitalism!' As Robert says, 'Homelessness is the canary in the coal mine!' It may seem like an oxymoron, that in the lucky country, as Australia has often been referred to, we have an overwhelming, and continually increasing number of people who are homeless, especially older women, and women with children. Some of the latest stats show there are even people with full-time employment who are finding rentals out of reach. Couch surfing, sleeping in cars, adult children living back with parents; these are only some of the stories we are hearing about more and more. It was in 2019 that Robert Pradolin, after having a successful 35+ year career in property development, decided to do something about it, and so 'Housing All Australians' was born.
