Big Chief is an intermediate ski trail located at Berkshire East Mountain Resort. The trail runs from the summit of the resort, down to the base area. The trail starts off to the left when coming off of the chairlift, keeping to the left at a fork with Mohawk, then right at a fork with Flying Cloud. The trail then starts off nice and mellow, curving slightly to left. Eventually, the trail makes a sharper curve to the left entering into a short but steep drop. The trail then mellows out, turning slightly to the right before turning back to the left into a short dip before arriving at the base area. Berkshire East Mountain Resort is a ski resort located in Charlemont, Massachusetts. The ski area is situated right off of State Route 2 in the northern Berkshire Mountains in Western Franklin county. The ski area is located about an hour drive north of Springfield and about a 2h 15min drive west of Boston. With just under 200 acres of skiing, Berkshire East is the second-largest ski area in Massachusetts in terms of skiable area and with a vertical of 1,200 feet, it is the tallest ski area in the state. The ski area is known for its small, local, and family-friendly vibe, providing a large variety of mostly groomed terrain for all skill levels from the same peak. The resort also has tubing in the winter and a large bike park, ziplines, and one of the best mountain coasters I've ever ridden in the summer. The ski resort is family-owned, owned by the same family which also owns Catamount, which is also located partially in Massachusetts, with the rest being located in New York. The resort is an Indy Pass member, granting pass holders two days at the resort.
