Walked there! Hegman Pictographs BWCA, Ely MN

About 25 minutes north of Ely, MN is a gem! It's the Hegman Lake Pictograph in the Boundry Waters Canoe Area (BWCA). We discovered this by accident trying to find a cross country ski trail to spend the day at. What a worthwhile trip it was! All in all, I think it took about 2.5 hours for the round trip. We were able to walk there and back. But take caution here. I can certanly see where snow shoes or skis would be extremely vital depending on the conditions. We saw a number of kids around 8+ years old making the trip. I would consider it to be a moderate hike. Certanly accessablel by canoe or Kyak as well with one .5 mile portage and a 2nd 50 yard protage. It could easily be done in a day shot.
