Shimen Village is an administrative village under Baijiao Town, Doumen District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. Located in the northwest of the town, about 7 kilometers from the town government, it sits on the northwest side of Wuni Peak Mountain and the east bank of the Huangyang River. Neighboring natural villages include Xiaotuo Village, Shalan Village, Yuekeng Village, and Datuo Village. The main mountain ranges within the village area include Wuni Peak Mountain and Shimen Mountain, with the highest peak reaching 186 meters above sea level. The Huangjingmen River flows through the south of the village. In 2015, the registered population was 553, primarily Han Chinese of the Guangfu subgroup, speaking the Siyi dialect of Yue. The village was founded during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The Tan family ancestors were the first to migrate there, followed by Ye, Chen, Ou, and other families who settled there, forming a community. It was named after a large, gate-shaped rock beside a mountain stream and was formerly known as Beiheli and Shimenkeng. Having undergone several administrative changes during the Qing Dynasty, including Huangliangdu of Xiangshan County, the Eighth District of Zhongshan County, and Baijiao Commune of Doumen County, Shashi Village, Baijiao Town, Doumen District, Zhuhai City, was incorporated into the village in 2001. The economy is primarily based on aquaculture. Villagers' income comes from land contracting, migrant work, and dividends from the village collective economy. The village retains its traditional rice cultivation. It has a cultural center, a rural library, and a fitness plaza, and has been selected as a municipal-level ecological demonstration village, implementing garbage and sewage treatment projects.
