Although it's a myth that Verdi made this world-famous opera to celebrate the inauguration of the Suez Canal, it was premiered in 1871, two years after the opening of the Canal, in Cairo. This opera offers a lot to watch and listen to, but what makes this opera so popular is the inclusion of this triumphal march, so much so that it is quite often played independently of the opera itself. The performance on this video was wonderful but it was a shame that so-called Aida trumpets weren't used. Note:here again there is a mistake in Verdi's name. Please remove p from his name.
