When unexpected problems occur it may feel like you are standing out in the rain. Sometimes being a business owner is like taking a walk in the park. The weather is beautiful. The sky is clear. But what happens when it suddenly starts to rain? Well, we can take cover until it subsides. Head indoors and wait it out. Or we can go through it. All of these are reasonable responses to a rainy day and most of us would probably lean towards the first two responses but it's better to go through the rain than to wait it out. The rain I am referring to is the problems and challenges that arise in our businesses, right? One reason to push forward is that others are not. It keeps you on track with your goals. Goals are not specific to whether it is rain or shine. You may get a little wet along the way. If the goal is worth it then it won't matter in the end, will it. For more information about Take On Challenges (Things I Wish I Knew When I Was 20) check out my video for more details. When it rains in your business, it can feel like it is just one thing after another and you just can't catch a break. It can be discouraging. It can be frustrating. It can feel like you are caught up in the strong winds and tossed about. At these times the best course of action is a shift in your mindset. Instead of being discouraged and disappointed, focus on how to leverage the adversity. Use it as a catalyst to help you grow. Consider that plants are exposed to the wind and rain. Sometimes they bend or break, but more often when the rain clears they bloom, they grow and they become stronger. The same will happen to you if you are able to embrace the rain in your business, and walk through it, continue on towards your goals. It can be hard to see it that way especially when you are in a difficult situation. It is during these times when it is important to have somebody that you can count on to encourage you, to hold you accountable and not let you take cover and wait it out, but rather join you on the journey through the rain.
