In this video I’m remotely connecting to my solar-powered DragonOS SDR station for a full end-to-end workflow—everything from compilation to live satellite LTE decoding. *The RustDesk ID shown in the video is from a Live Boot client and not that of the remote server, please make sure you never reveal an ID that you are actually using.* I start by compiling a slightly more modern fork of FALCON (Fast Analysis of LTE Control Channels), originally released over 5 years ago. Once built, I load a custom .bin FPGA image onto a LibreSDR (a USRP-style SDR), configured via a uhd.conf file to auto-select the correct FPGA based on the SDR’s serial number. Although, after filming this video and thinking about it, I had first changed the system bin file and when FALCON loaded, it pulled that file instead of what I expected. Just be aware the customized FPGA file per serial number may not apply in all situations. The real fun begins when I use the freshly compiled FALCON to lock onto and decode the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) from Starlink’s Direct-to-Cell satellites—beaming LTE signals from orbit in the 1900 MHz band. These satellites use 5 MHz FDD LTE channels and travel fast, making tracking and decoding a real test of timing and antenna placement.
