SRI LANKA | DHYBRID REALIZES FIRST EVER GRID-TIED MICROGRID

Sri Lanka's first ever grid-tied Microgrid pilot project! This is the first step for a country-widde roll-out of similiar microgrids providing clean energy and sustainable power supply! The University of Moratuwa has become a role model of modern energy supply as part of an ADB project. The pilot project connects stand-alone grids to ensure a fail-safe supply of renewable energy. The resulting self-sufficient system is powered by a combination of 350 kWp solar energy, a 400 kW / 400 kWh lithium-ion battery storage system, and the public grid. It provides full independence and uninterrupted power supply even in the case of power failures. In order to implement the microgrid concept across a broader area, additional grid-connected microgrids are planned. Microgrids can be connected to each other and to the public grid to create a supply system that maximizes local energy use while also preventing area-wide power failures. The result of a strong partnership with our partners from Lanka Electricity Company Private Limited and Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC for the future energy security of Sri Lanka.
