Maru best girl. In a wizawhat style pseudo 2020 recap, I've decided to cover one of the games that has played a big role in getting me through these troubling times, Stardew Valley. I first began playing Stardew Valley the day it launched, and after playing an absurd amount in the first week, I put it on the shelf for a few years. At the beginning of the pandemic, I gravitated towards Animal Crossing New Horizons like countless others, but once I grew tired of that game, all I could think about was Stardew Valley. Picking it up once more, I have played for over 100 hours on my current save file over the course of this past year. In this video I document that experience, covering its unique approach to refining the Harvest Moon formula, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone's development philosophy, and the personal impact its characters and world have had upon me.
