UPDATE: Thanks folks for pointing out that this is a popular Down East tune known as "Lord Alexander's Reel". Good tune! Looks like Cormier I think had a pretty straight version though I feel like this tune has super weird phrasing. Larade's version I believe is crooked and I like it a lot. I've never heard of a crooked Cape Breton tune before?!? But this wild tune from the playing of Chéticamp Acadian fiddler Joseph Larade is pretty out there! What's cool is I also found a different crooked version of this tune from the great Cape Breton Acadian fiddler Joe Cormier! I play both in this video and in either version this is just a wonderful tune. Robert Deveaux let me know he was told this tune was called "Crazy Jack" so that's the name folks are using for it now, even though neither Larade or Cormier publicly named it. Joe Confiant also played this tune. Anyways, it's pretty cool to find such a strange crooked tune in Cape Breton and it's really a very fun tune to play! Joe Cormier's version of this tune is here (it's the second tune in the medley after "The Cottonwood Reel" which I already did for Tune of the Day): https://fieldrecorder.bandcamp.com/tr... Head over to my Patreon if you want and I'll share a slowed-down version of this tune for folks to learn. / devonlegertunes
