The Edtech Files - AtTechEdu News - Ep 4 Supplement - Twitter with a Google Form - Teacher Approval This video may be seen as controversial for some. It may be seen as against the TOS of Twitter. Twitter TOS states: "Our Policy Towards Children. Our Services are not directed to persons under 13. If you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us here ( / privacy ) . We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we take steps to remove such information and terminate the child’s account. You can find additional resources for parents and teens here ( / 470968 ." With this in mind since this method of students tweeting does not breach this statement, ie, the method does not collect any student information that is tweeted out. It does not allow students to create a twitter account. By using the supplement video ( • The Edtech Files - AtTechEdu News - Ep 4 S... ) teachers can authorise tweets from the Google Spreadsheet, therefore monitoring what the students have to say. Since students are tweeting through a class monitored account and students do not have there own account and have therefore not provided Twitter with any personal information, I feel that this method is completely legitimate and I would encourage teachers teaching primary level children to use it, as Twitter is a great learning resources if used effectively and taught with Digital Citizenship. Using Zapier (https://zapier.com/) allows you to take information from a Google Form/Sheet and "Zap" it to other apps, such as Twitter. The free version of Zapier allows teachers to achieve what is in this video without purchasing. However, there are limits, such as the zaps will be checked every 15 mins, there is a 100 limit to the number of times a zap will be run each month. This method is a safe way to get students under the age of 13 tweeting using a classroom twitter account. Note : Please check your school social media policy first to determine how your school treats sending out tweets in this method.
