Words and music written by Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia. Music Arrangement by Winthrop and Kathleen Chamberlain The first time I heard “Ramble On Rose” was from the Europe 72 album. I also heard it played live at The Philadelphia Civic Center the second night on 08/05/1974. Both nights at the Civic Center had the Grateful Dead’s famous Wall of Sound. The audio was perfect both nights. Ramble On Rose was played in the second set after Big River. Ramble On Rose always took me into this moment. This song has been with me most of my life and Kathleen and I play it often. It is impossible to use words to describe life. However, Robert Hunter was a master at doing just that and this song has always brought on a wonderful muse in each moment I heard it played with my own life seeming more like little ups and downs while all kinds of noisy things are happening around me. The surfing simulation on the open ocean seems to fit this song nicely. While I always thought of this song as providing serious advice, Robert Hunter once told David Gans, "I think ‘Ramble On Rose’ is the closest to complete whimsy I've come up with. I just sat down and wrote numerous verses that tied around ‘Did you say...’“ This music video is basically a simulation created in Blender using the Ocean modifier. The surfboard is controlled so that the front rises and falls independently of the rear. I like the movement of the surfboard as it seemed to be another metaphor with similarity to Robert Hunter’s lyrics. Ramble on Rose from The Philadelphia Civic Center, Philadelphia, PA 08-05-1974 https://archive.org/details/gd1974-08... The audio of the guitar and piano were recorded in one take with the drums from the Alesis SR-18. New drum tracks and drum fills were added later using the SR-18. The bass was then added which was played by Kathleen on the Yamaha MODX keyboard. I also added more percussion by playing the Roland HPD-15. The video was created using Blender. The City 3d model came from Free3d.com and submitted by Aidan Tiruvan (goldeflies). I made some changes to the materials. The audio was recorded using Cakewalk Sonar X2 which exported the 5.1 surround audio. This 5.1 audio was then added to the video using Adobe Premiere. Here is a link to a six channel 5.1 surround version. Download this mp4 file, put it on a thumb drive and play it through the USB input of a Blu-ray or DVD player that is connected to a 5.1 surround audio system. https://archive.org/details/bluebird-... #JamBandVideos #PsychedelicMusic #GratefulDead #TrippyVisuals #JamBandLove #CosmicJourney #LiveMusicExperience #Psychedelic #JamBand, #Hippie, #woodstocknorth #trippyvisuals
