A player attacking Badakus usually does not yet have Iron Age military units. As the computer only uses incomplete teams this will not be a problem and it is possible to pass these fights without significant losses. Sector 1 I start with the lower right sector where I find 3 Mounted Warriors and 2 Archers. You will recognize that especially the Iron Age Archers are strong. Normally the best counter to Archers would be a fast unit, but I still don't have Iron Age units and I never built a stable in Bronze Age. I am not planning to change that for this fight. That's why I try it with the Bronze Age Spear Fighters. The computer moves the Mounted Warriors forward very slowly, trying to keep the contact to it's Archers. I use a similar tactic and move my Spear Fighters to the corners of the map out of the opponent's range. As the computer cannot reach my Spear Fighters, it again only advances a little to keep the team together. I then move my units to bonus fields, which is not possible for all of them. Now the Mounted Warriors attack my Spear Fighters. The bonus fields help to reduce the damage they receive. At the same time the strike back is strong and as soon as it is my turn all Mounted Warriors are defeated. But you can also see how much damage the Archers make against my light units. I am lucky that there are only 2 Archers. Due to my majority the remaining part is not difficult. Losing 2 Spear Fighters is an acceptable result. Sector 2 next I decide for the upper right sector. There are 3 Mounted Warriors and 3 Soldiers. The Soldier is the Iron Age version of the Spear Fighter, being some 30% stronger in attack and defense. 1 vs 1 my Spear Fighter would be killed easily by them. But with using 8 units on my side against these 6 defenders, I will succeed. In the beginning the Mounted Warriors remain next to the Soldiers, only moving forward slowly. I send my Spear Fighters to bonus fields. This provides a better defense to them and blocks these fields so that the computer cannot use them for his Soldiers, forcing it to attack my units from normal fields without bonus. In round 2 the all 3 Mounted Warriors attack the same Spear Fighter, which has a bonus, but that is still not enough to survive 3 hits from such a strong unit. But it was able to strike back once. The other Spear Fighters then can eliminate all Mounted Warriors, but I only use those strikes that I can perform from bonus fields. These Mounted Warriors are not the real danger, but the Soldiers. And against these Soldiers I urgently need the bonus. Therefore I keep my units on bonus fields and if I cannot attack a Mounted Warrior that way, I attack a Soldier instead. At the end of that battle I then can leave the bonus fields. I win with losing 2 Spear Fighters only. Sektor 3 In the northern center sector only 2 Mounted Warriors and 3 Soldiers are waiting. After succeeding in the more difficult sector 2 before, this should not be a challenge. But the map sometimes can make a difference. You see the computer player building a queue with it's units. I use forest fields in the center of the map for my Spear Fighters. When the bonus fields in the center are used up, the remaining units get bonus fields nearby. (...) This way I win the battle, again losing 2 Spear Fighters only. Sector 4 The lower center sector then is a bit more challenging. There are 3 Soldiers and 2 Archers. For my Spear Fighters the Iron Age Archers are more difficult than the Mounted Warriors were in the previous fight. Therefore it is important to play very exactly this time. In the first round no unit receives damage. The computer moves forward and I try to get bonus fields for my units, keeping them outside of the Archers' range. (...) I complete my attack. Finally I lost 4 Spear Fighters but I win the battle. Sector 5 For the left most sector I still do not have the best units. Against these Ballistas I should have Mounted Warriors or my own Ballistas. (...) In round 1 the computer player mainly remains on his side, This always happens when the computer uses artillery units, knowing that these can make damage over a long distance. I cannot hesitate, I have to move forward. Whenever this is possible, I use bonus fields, still remaining outside of the Archers' range. The second round then starts positive. The attacking Mounted Warrior is killed very fast. But now I have to move forward fast while I receive hits from all opponents without being able to strike back. Now I feel how bad it is, not to have the best counter units. But I have a clear majority. I can afford some losses. In the end I again lost 4 Spear Fighters, but I conquered Badakus. Congratulations. With this province I now have access to the pvp tournaments of the Iron Age. Currently I still don't have Iron Age units, but this will change very soon. And I can send our the scout to find new provinces.
