From our 2022 CD, I Was Glad, This well known contemporary hymn was written by songwriter David Evans in 1986, making it into the Church of Ireland’s Irish Church Praise by 1990, just four years after it was written whereas it took two hundred years to officially allow some of Wesley’s hymns to be sung! Anyone who knows their bible stories will be able to follow it line by line and recognise episodes from which Evans may have found inspiration. Cantemus presented ‘Be Still’ as an anthem on BBCs Radio 4 Morning Service in March 2020. A Radio 4 listener emailed to say ‘The Words floated into consciousness.’
