Hi everyone!! My biggest goal in life is to help more people play roller derby, the best sport in the entire world (: Roller derby changed me for the better in so many ways. Helping others learn to love this sport too is what makes my heart happy! Now one thing is for sure… The roller derby rulebook is HEFTY! In fact, I only covered a smidge of it in this almost-30-min-long video! But that’s the whole reason why I wanted to create this series, Once Upon a Jam. This series goes out to all you visual and auditory learners out there, like myself; all the people who struggle to sit down and stay focused without little gimmicks, like myself; and all the people who want to get better at derby and really understand the rules but can’t be trusted to read the rulebook and not accidentally skip over the important parts, like myself (; Please sit back, relax, and enjoy as I do you the favors. Derbyverse, this is Part 1 of my series, Once Upon a Jam… a WFTDA rulebook reading!!! BIG shoutouts go out to… ★TSG, for being my AMAZING sponsor and the provider of the best gear in the biz! ★Rose City Rollers, for the incredible footage throughout this video which can be found on their YouTube channel (: Be sure to check out their website at https://rosecityrollers.com/ ★WFTDA, for the thorough rules of flat track roller derby! You can read along to this video by finding the rulebook at https://rules.wftda.com/ Don’t forget to like and subscribe for more content like this! And feel free to let me know in the comments any videos you’d like to see in the future (; Chapters 0:00 Intro 1:15 Summary 2:30 Section 1 - Game Parameters + Safety 2:36 Section 1.1 - Timing 3:58 Section 1.2 - Teams 5:19 Section 1.3 - Timeouts 5:55 Section 1.3.1 - Team Timeouts 6:15 Section 1.3.2 - Official Reviews 7:33 Section 1.3.3 - Official Timeouts 8:15 Section 1.4 - Game Information 8:43 Section 1.5 - Winning 8:47 Section 1.5.1 - Overtime 9:10 Section 2 - Gameplay 9:14 Section 2.1 - The Track 10:06 Section 2.2 - Positions 11:26 Section 2.2.1 - Jammers 12:30 Section 2.2.2 - Lead Jammer 13:43 Section 2.2.3 - Pivot Blocker 14:20 Section 2.2.4 - Passing the Star 15:47 Section 2.2.5 - Blockers 16:00 Section 2.3 - The Engagement Zone + Pack 18:41 Section 2.4 - Blocks + Assists 19:54 Section 2.4.1 - Target Zones 20:08 Section 2.4.2 - Blocking Zones 20:18 Section 2.5 - Passing 21:54 Section 3 - Scoring 21:56 Section 3.1 - Earning Points 22:26 Section 3.2 - Scoring Trips 23:18 Section 3.3 - Scoring Avoidance 24:33 Section 3.4 - Penalized Jammers 24:55 Section 3.5 - Errors in Scoring + Score Reporting 25:46 Outro FAQs Q: How long have you been playing roller derby?
