The exploding ant DLC is here! In the DLC, you unlock two new species to play as, one being Exploding ants (Colobopsis explodens) and Exploding termites (Neocapritermes taracua). These two species have a unique ability, when threatened, they go through a process called Autothysis. This process ruptures their bodies, covering the predator in a toxic goo-like substance. Exploding termites also exist! Their workers are able to undergo Autothysis. When born, they are unable to explode and function just as regular workers. As time passes, they gain the ability to explode, shown by their darker appearance. The termite soldiers are unable to explode, but they are fearsome warriors who put up a massive fight. They have a unique ability called asymmetric snapping, something similar to trapjaws. This ability deals huge damage, and has an overground ability, where only on the surface, they are able to stun enemies and fling themselves back. Like the exploding ants, the workers also have their unique ereptor upgrades. Rapid Maturity - Reduces the time until the termite is able to explode. Accelerated Gland Filling - Speeds up the rate at which the damage and duration of the explosion increases. Extreme Toxins - Increases the duration of the damage over time effect of the explosion. Extreme Confusion - Increases the duration of the confusion effect of the explosion. =================================== In this new level, No Ant's Land, we return to Front Line, this time as an exploding termite colony. The leafcutter colony has relocated north, in the center path. The large whip spider is present, hiding during the day, and emerging at night. At dawn, the menace of the army ants comes out and looks for food. As they sweep through the rainforest floor in search of prey, our humble termite colony will fall on their path. =================================== 0:00 - Start (Day 1) 7:28 - Night 1 11:08 - Day 2 15:33 - Night 2 19:14 - Day 3 23:38 - Night 3 25:05 - Fighting the large Whip Spider 27:20 - Day 4 (Final) =================================== Tips: Like the exploding ants, you'll want to default turning off Autothysis for your termite workers until they are needed to explode. Exploding termite workers can only explode after a while when they hatch. Keep the freshly hatched ones in the nest for a while until they are ready to explode. Or you can send them out to help collect dead plant matter with autothysis off and attack off. You'll want to make separate worker groups. Use smaller groups to go through autothysis and then switch out the already exploded workers with a batch of fresh, ready to explode workers. You'll want mainly numbers for both workers and soldiers. You'll also want a few upgraded level 3 workers to help increase your gathering amount. Numbers for soldiers is good as well. Get at least 2 groups to help cover more ground and protect the workers from dying or exploding unnecessarily. Once you get about 50 soldiers, you can start to upgrade them. Their unique ability, asymmetric snapping, deals huge damage at level 3, and can help deal with larger enemies much easier. Killing the Large Whip Spider is optional, its death can help clear the path up to more food for your colony. Fight the army ant hordes inside your nest. Let exploding workers deal some nice aoe damage, and while their majors are confused, your soldiers can finish them off. Keep refreshing the battle line with workers able to go under autothysis. Have at least a few hundred food in reserve for respawns. The workers cost 4 to hatch, and having most explode will drain your food quickly. The soldiers also cost quite a bit to respawn. Make extra workers to help with nymph placement. Once your termites begin blowing up, you'll need nest workers to quickly replace their numbers. =================================== Empires of the Undergrowth is an ant colony management game, in a fast-paced real-time strategy style. The player excavates their nest underground, constructing tunnels and chambers to store food and raise brood. On the surface, the ants claim territory, gather resources, overwhelm fearsome arachnids and clash with other colonies. Nest design, army size, composition and attack timing are key to securing victory. Empires of the Undergrowth is a real-time strategy game set in the world of ants!
