‘Pull your weight on housing’: International student visa cap puts strain on housing market

Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke discusses lifting the cap on international student visas a year from 270,000 to 295,000 and how it affects the housing crisis in Australia. “The key thing here to remember with international education, yes, it’s an important export for Australia, but there are lots of industries that have to provide a home for their workers,” Mr Burke told Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell. “International education has a particular obligation to help with student housing. “We’ve made very clear to international education generally and to universities in particular, you need to pull your weight on student housing.”
